For the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the official daily mortality rate from COVID-19 in Russia has reached 1,195 cases. The number of new infections was 40,217 per day.

As noted by Novaya Gazeta, citing the headquarters for the fight against infection, on November 3, 40,443 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded per day.

Despite another lockdown announced in the country, which will last from October 30 to November 7, mortality from covid continues to grow.

In the capital, 6305 people fell ill per day and 97 died, in St. Petersburg - 3271 and 75, in the Moscow region - 2732 and 54. In the Samara and Voronezh regions - 1603 and 802 cases, respectively. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,673,860 people have been infected in Russia, and 243,255 have died.

According to Novaya (rather conservative), since the beginning of the pandemic, 635 thousand people could have died due to the coronavirus. According to mathematician Dmitry Kobak of the University of Tübingen, excess mortality in Russia has exceeded 750 thousand people. This is 43% higher than the expected level and many times more than in other European countries.

Earlier it became known that Rospotrebnadzor banned mass events in schools until 2024. Restrictions on rulers, matinees and Christmas trees will remain in other educational and sports institutions. This is due to the fact that there is no vaccine approved for children in the country, and infant mortality among those infected is growing.
