Russian airlines resumed charter flights to Egypt

On November 9, charter flights between Russia and Egypt resumed, which had been banned for more than five years - since the crash of the Kogalymavia plane over Sinai.

According to TASS, the authorities made the decision to resume charters from November 9 in mid-October. The reason for the five-year pause in flights was the plane crash of a liner with Russian tourists flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg in 2015.

After investigating the causes of the incident, the Egyptian authorities took steps to improve flight safety. The decision to resume regular flights to Egypt was made in 2018, but initially it was possible to fly from Moscow only to Cairo, and only by Aeroflot.

"In July of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree canceling the ban on other transportations between Russia and Egypt, including charter flights", - the statement said.

After that, tour operators resumed the sale of vouchers to Egypt.

The first charter flight on November 9 was a Nordwind flight from Nizhny Novgorod to Hurghada. The first flights are fully loaded, tours for the New Year are in massive demand, especially among tourists in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar.

According to market participants, due to the opening of a charter message, the cost of rest in Egypt may decrease by 15-40%. Already today, it has dropped from an average of 77.5 thousand to 47.1 thousand rubles for a week-long tour for two with accommodation in a four-star hotel on the “all inclusive” system.
