New videos have appeared on YouTube, testifying to torture and abuse of prisoners - the human rights project Gulagu.net, which published the footage, claims that the recordings were made at the regional tuberculosis hospital Nr 1 (OTB-1) of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Saratov region.

The project indicated that the video captured ten grave violent crimes that occurred between July 2015 and September 2020. In these videos, prisoners are raped and forced to say that they are "nobody." Moreover, the torture was committed by other prisoners, who, according to human rights activists, acted on the instructions of high-ranking officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service and security forces. They tortured those who refused to cooperate with the administration, according to Gulagu.net.

Human rights activists emphasize that all the bullying was supervised by employees of state bodies.

In early November, we recall that another video appeared on the official YouTube channel of human rights defenders, showing a number of officials who were organizers of torture and rape of prisoners in OTB-1. In the first ten hours, the video received over 400 thousand views.

It's worth reminding that Gulagu.net informant Sergey Savelyev, who handed over the archive of videos of torture in Russian colonies, was put on the wanted list, according to the database of the Russian Interior Ministry. Currently, Savelyev is in France, where he asked for political asylum.

After the torture of prisoners in the Saratov hospital was publicized, the Investigative Committee opened seven criminal cases under Articles 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violent acts of a sexual nature) and 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of office with the use of violence and the threat of its use).

In October, the Federal Penitentiary Service asked human rights activists for access to a video archive of prisoners being tortured. This archive contains about a thousand documents confirming the systemic nature of torture in Russian prisons. All the video was filmed exactly in the tuberculosis hospital No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate in the Saratov region.
