Head of the Gamaleya center, academician Alexander Gintsburg said that the inclusion of the coronavirus vaccine in the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations does not mean compulsion.

According to Interfax, the annual flu vaccination is already included in the vaccination plan, but this does not mean that it will be compulsory. The same principle applies to the covid vaccine.

According to Gintsburg, compulsory vaccination is carried out within the framework of a special law, which spells out all the rules.

“As far as I know, our legislation in this regard is completely soft, no one will put anyone in jail or even fine in front of the population", - the academician believes.

Gintsburg told reporters about the proposal to add the covid vaccine to the National Vaccination Schedule the day before.

The scientist explained that although the flu shot is included in the National Calendar, not everyone gets it.

“This is no longer a problem of the vaccination calendar or the Gamaleya Institute, the developers, but these are organizational things. I can ask the same question to the press: why are you not so good at explaining to everyone that everyone should be vaccinated against the flu? Together we will explain to the remaining unvaccinated”, - the scientist believes.

Mass vaccination against COVID-19 in Russia began on January 18. The bulk of the population is vaccinated with the "Sputnik V" vaccine of the Gamaleya center of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

Vaccination rates remain low, with many citizens trying to circumvent government drug administration requirements and buying certificates. The police have already opened several criminal cases in connection with the purchase of fake vaccination certificates.
