A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun, and its shadow, falling on the Moon, blocks out most of the sunlight, staining the satellite in rusty tones.
During the next such eclipse, which will take place on November 19, the Moon will pass through the southern part of the earth's shadow, according to the website of the Moscow Planetarium . The shadow eclipse will last 3 hours 28 minutes (from 10:20 Moscow time to 13:48 Moscow time), and at the time of the maximum phase, at 12:04 Moscow time, it will look almost like a total (0.97) with a brightly lit southern edge of the Moon. Residents of eastern Russia will be able to see the shadow phases (from 07:17 to 10:48). And in the Far Eastern Federal District, if the sky is clear, the eclipse can be observed in the evening from beginning to end. In Moscow, alas, the eclipse is unobservable, since the Moon at this time will be under the horizon.
Typically, lunar eclipses occur twice a year. The next one will also happen between May 15 and 16, 2022, it will be a total lunar eclipse. This will be followed by another, between 7 and 8 November.
