Belarusian car dealers said that there is an agreement between them and their Russian counterparts, according to which new cars are not sold to Russians, since many Russian citizens specially go to Belarus for inexpensive cars.

As reported in Autonews.ru, this is due to the margins on imposed options faced by buyers in Russia. In addition, the experts referred to the shortage of cars in the Russian Federation.

The journalist of the portal said that in several Belarusian car dealerships, in response to a message about a desire to buy a car, he was offered to draw up a deal for relatives or acquaintances with Belarusian citizenship. Moreover, one of the dealers, the correspondent noted, said that such a ban has been in effect for about six months.

The Volkswagen showroom indicated that it is possible to purchase a car with a Russian passport, but it will be "much more difficult".

According to Rusan Krivonos, an expert specializing in the import of cars from Belarus, previously, most car manufacturers also divided sales zones, but there was no direct ban on the sale of cars to citizens of the Russian Federation.

It's worth reminding that sales of electric vehicles have almost doubled in Russia. In the first ten months, 845 new electric vehicles were sold. This is 118% more than in January-October last year.
