In July last year, it was said that the Golovinsky court in Moscow arrested Osechkin in absentia on charges of fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, as well as causing significant damage.
Osechkin himself wrote on his social network account that he found out about the arrest by accident. He also said that he left the country after being searched in 2015. He added that no criminal case was initiated at that time. Since 2015 he has been living in France.
In the fall of this year, Vladimir Osechkin indicated on the air of the radio "Echo of Moscow" that his organization has at its disposal over a thousand video files of the Federal Penitentiary Service, confirming the systematic nature of torture in Russian colonies and pre-trial detention centers of Irkutsk, Vladimirskaya and Saratovskaya areas. Among these files were previously published materials about torture in the regional tuberculosis hospital No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Saratov Region. A former prisoner, a citizen of Belarus, Sergei Savelyev, managed to collect a video archive of torture and take it out of the country. In a Russian colony, he was imprisoned under a "drug" article. Savelyev himself was arrested in absentia. 10th of November
Recall that after the publication of Osechkin's materials, 18 employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Saratov Region lost their posts. The prosecutor of the Saratov region, Sergei Filipenko, appealed the arrest of Saveliev in absentia.
Note that Osechkin's Facebook account was "forever" blocked without explanation. On the page, the human rights activist published evidence of torture in Russian prisons.
