AstraZeneca will apply for registration of vaccine against COVID-19 in Russia

The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, which became the first international partner of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for combined research of joint vaccines, announced its readiness to apply for registration of its coronavirus vaccine in Russia.

According to TASS, AstraZeneca plans to apply to the Russian Ministry of Health for registration of its coronavirus vaccine in the Russian Federation. The day before, this information was confirmed by the head of the RDIF Kirill Dmitriev.

During a meeting at the Bell Club.Live site, Dmitriev said that foreign manufacturers of vaccines against coronavirus need to send an application to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in order to approve their drugs in Russia.

AstraZeneca turned out to be the first among Western companies to express such a desire. She already participates in RDIF partnerships for combined co-vaccine research.

In mid-September, it became known that the Russian company R-Pharm had begun production of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

However, while the drug is produced only for export, the product is not intended for consumers on the Russian market.

Recall that the problem of international recognition of vaccines in the midst of the covid pandemic is very acute.

Due to the lobbying of large pharmaceutical companies, many foreign manufacturers are unable to enter foreign markets that have a large capacity during a period of high demand for vaccines.

This seriously complicates the life of travelers who are forced to spend huge amounts of money on "vaccine tourism" in order to acquire the right to freedom of movement around the world against the backdrop of imposed sanitary restrictions.
