Magomedsalam Magomedov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia (pictured), called on to draw the attention of journalists to this problem. In his opinion, this could lead to incitement of interethnic tensions. Journalists may be held responsible for such offenses, he said. His words are quoted by "Interfax".

Magomedsalam Magomedov recalled that this problem had existed before, but together with law enforcement agencies and the journalists themselves, they managed to eradicate it. "This problem has not existed for several years. But apparently now it is necessary to pay close attention to it again," he added.

It should be reminded that earlier the Parliament of Chechnya made a proposal to introduce fines for journalists for mentioning the nationality of criminals in the media. The bill on this matter was developed by the chairman of the regional parliament, Magomed Daudov. In his opinion, the adoption of this bill will preserve "interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony".

Earlier, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, also drew attention to the problem. He noted that the media uses only two categories of citizens to cover events about crimes. They are committed either by a Caucasian or by a person without nationality.
