Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Alexander Kalashnikov (pictured) from the post of head of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). The decree was posted on the Kremlin's portal.
Arkady Gostev was appointed to the post by another decree.
Let us remind you that recently a glad of blatant facts of torture of prisoners in Russian colonies have come to light. For example, in October, human rights activists from the Gulagu.net project published a video showing the torture and rape of prisoners in the Saratov prison hospital.
The Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on the fact of torture. A number of FSIN (Federal Penitentiary Service) employees were dismissed from service.
