A gas explosion on Amet-Khan Sultan Street in Makhachkala occurred on November 22. According to the " Caucasian Knot " *, as a result of the emergency, five people were injured, including two children, and one person died .

An eight-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital with burns on 70% of the body surface, a 17-year-old girl with burns on 6% of the body surface, as well as a mother of children in an extremely serious condition, in whom 90% of her body was burned.

The gasmen named the unauthorized connection to the gas pipeline as the reason for the explosion.

After the emergency, residents of neighboring houses in the midst of the pre-winter cold were left without gas and without heat. Tired of waiting for connection, indignant Makhachkala residents went to a spontaneous protest and blocked traffic on Amet-Khan Sultan Street. Dozens of people took part in the protests. They blocked the traffic, neither cars nor minibuses could move along the street.

After the spontaneous protest of the people, representatives of the gas services promised to solve the problem.

“The protesters said that if they were not given gas before 10 pm, they were ready to block the road,” the message says.

A few days after the explosion, authorities announced that the restoration of the pipeline was complete. After the emergency, 300 meters of pipes had to be laid. On December 1, the authorities announced that gas would be delivered to citizens' houses after “inspection of every living space (...) in order to avoid tragic consequences”.
