According to the Minister of Health of the Kingdom, Carolina Darias, the level of vaccination in Spain is one of the highest in the world: every nine out of ten residents have already received a full course of vaccinations against covid, and they did it completely voluntarily.
“Therefore, the goal in Spain is to continue to vaccinate in the same way as we do”, - Darias quoted TASS as saying.
The minister added that now the world is actively discussing the topic of introducing compulsory vaccination, but in Spain, according to Darias, this is not required, since "the situation in the country is completely different."
On December 1, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, came up with an initiative to introduce compulsory vaccination in the EU countries.
In those EU countries where vaccination coverage is high enough, the negative consequences of the pandemic were almost completely overcome, and people have already returned to normal life. Now in Spain people over 12 are vaccinated. But soon the kingdom will receive a vaccine for children from 5 to 11 years old, so the coverage of residents with vaccinations will be even higher.
This is especially true against the background of an increase in the number of infections that has emerged in a number of regions of the country. The fear of doctors is caused by the new omicron strain, which increases the risk of re-infection with covid threefold.
