Investigators of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case after an emergency landing of an Airbus 321 aircraft of the S7 airline.

The plane was on its way from Magadan to Novosibirsk and was forced to make an urgent landing in Irkutsk, because the aircraft's speed and altitude indicators failed due to icing on the side of the plane. The incident took place on December 2 at about 1 pm local time. There were 202 passengers on board, including three children and seven crew members.

The liner commander decided not to return to the airport of departure, as the weather conditions had changed. He decided to land the plane in Irkutsk. The landing was successful. No harm done.

After the incident, investigators opened a case under the article on the provision of unsafe services, the ministry said in a statement.
