In the updated recommendations, WHO does not propose to transfuse plasma to patients with coronavirus in severe and critical stages and highly discourages doing this in case of a mild course of the disease, Kommersant reports.
The organization said it acknowledged that there was no clear benefit "in terms of mortality or mechanical ventilation for patients with mild, severe and critical illness, and there are significant cost and time requirements for administration."
The extreme recommendation against use reflects the GDG's position that the administration of drugs with a low baseline mortality rate and other important clinical outcomes is not warranted, especially for patients with mild disease, the new document says.
Let us remind you that in September, Moscow began receiving plasma from those revaccinated with Sputnik Light.
