The so-called "law of Dima Yakovlev", which is officially registered as the law "On measures of influence on persons involved in violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation", was adopted in 2012 in response to the adoption of the Magnitsky Act in the United States. The document provides for a ban on the transfer of Russian children to the United States for adoption.
According to Interfax , the explanatory note to the document states that the bill does not concern foreign adoption. The information was confirmed by the relevant State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption.
The new sanctions provide for the expansion of the scope of the so-called "law of Dima Yakovlev" to all countries.
“We are talking about a ban on entry into Russia, the arrest of the Russian assets of these foreigners, a ban on them to make both investments and property transactions, a ban on their companies to work in Russia,” the source reports.
“Now this law applies only to US citizens involved in crimes against Russian citizens, as well as unfair sentences and unjustified legal prosecution of Russians”, - Vedomosti said.
In June it was reported that the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation approved amendments on administrative fines in the amount of 5 thousand to 100 thousand rubles, which will be charged for violations of the "law of Dima Yakovlev".
