This was announced at a briefing by the ex-secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchinov. According to the publication "Interfax-Ukraine", Petro Poroshenko is suspected of assisting terrorist organizations in the case of coal supplies from the territories of Donbass not controlled by Kiev.
“The fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, was declared suspicious of high treason”, - Kommersant quotes Turchinov as saying.
According to the speaker, Petro Poroshenko was declared suspicious under Part 1 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason), part 1 of Art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist organization) and parts 1 and 3 of Art. 258-5 (terrorist financing).
"The notification of the suspicion was sent to the post office at the place of residence and place of work", - the message says.
On December 23, the security forces summoned Poroshenko for interrogation in this case. However, the likelihood that the suspect will voluntarily attend the interview is very low. The fact is that after the security officials wanted to hand over to Poroshenko a summons on the case of coal supplies from Donbass, he hastily left the country.
As noted by RIA Novosti, at the headquarters of Poroshenko, his departure was explained by previously existing plans for a foreign diplomatic tour. Poroshenko allegedly intended to visit Poland and Turkey.
“In Poland, the ex-president will take part in a conference on the topic“ Russia-Ukraine-NATO: escalating tensions on the eastern flank ”. Bilateral meetings of Petro Poroshenko with representatives of parliamentary and political science circles are also planned in the framework of consolidating efforts to help Ukraine counter the challenges of peace and security, ”the newspaper notes, citing a statement by representatives of Poroshenko’s “European Solidarity” party.
