Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper stated the need to reduce the maximum permissible level of alcohol in the blood of drivers. According to the politician, this should improve road safety.

According to Vedomosti, Marat Khusnullin, who is the deputy prime minister of Russia and the chairman of the road safety commission, in an interview expressed his desire to fight deaths in "drunken" road accidents.

“I believe that it is necessary to reduce the number of allowed blood alcohol percentages while driving. After all, there is a direct dependence of mortality and accidents on the number of ppm blood alcohol. The accident rate for those who drank a glass of beer or so is minimal. Those who got behind the wheel with one ppm of alcohol in their blood are already potential death row. Therefore, these things need to be regulated, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to RBC, the road safety commission did not come to a consensus, so they decided to keep statistics in the experimental regions. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that if a significant decrease in the number of injuries and deaths on the roads is revealed in these regions, the measure will be approved.

Khusnullin also said that the issue of reducing the non-penalty threshold for speeding to 10 km / h was discussed.

“There is no unequivocal decision either on speed or on alcohol”, - the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The commission believes that the new restrictions may lead to an increase in corruption on the roads.

Earlier it was reported that in the Crimea, a drunk driver knocked down two children moving along the side of the road.
