In the UK, the national ministry of health said vaccination with the third component of the covid vaccine raises protection against possible hospitalization with the Omicron strain to 88 percent.

According to the BBC , British Minister of Health Sajid Javid said that when infected with Omicron, vaccines reduce the risk of being hospitalized by eight times.

More than 600 thousand cases of infection with the Omicron strain have been investigated in the country. Experts have found: the first dose of the vaccine reduces the risk of hospitalization by 52%, the second dose increases protection up to 72%. After receiving the third dose of the vaccine, protection against hospitalization rises to 88%. Patients who have had coronavirus and then were vaccinated with a booster dose have 68% protection from hospitalization, the agency said.

Earlier, a Greek researcher published a mathematical model predicting the end of the covid pandemic precisely because of the Omicron strain.

In Russia, in early 2022, a surge in daily morbidity is expected due to the Omicron strain, however, due to the fact that the disease is in a milder form, the authorities do not fear a possible additional burden on the bed fund, since a decrease in the number of hospitalizations is expected ...

Omicron was discovered in South Africa at the end of November 2021 and has been designated by WHO as "of concern". It was found that this strain is less susceptible to vaccines and antibodies, more infectious, but the disease is milder.
