Media: Nazarbayev and his daughters left Kazakhstan in the midst of the protests

The publication notes that only the elder brother of the ex-head of state, Bolat Nazarbayev, remained in the country engulfed in riots.

The publication drew attention to the fact that from the very beginning of the protests, the country's authorities distanced themselves on behalf of Nazarbayev. High-ranking officials and state media have stopped mentioning his name and the names of his family members in their speeches. They keep silent about where the members of this family are and what is happening to them.

“We have information that the first president and his daughters left Kazakhstan with their families”, - the Gazeta.ru report says.

Earlier, the media noted that Nazarbayev's nephew was detained in Kazakhstan. However, a statement was soon issued by the editor-in-chief of orda.kz, Gulnara Bazhkenova, that the previously released report on the detention of Nazarbayev's nephew had come out by mistake, the source's information was not confirmed.

Nazarbayev formally resigned in March 2019, retaining the status of the leader of the nation, a member of the Constitutional Council, the post of chairman of the Security Council and head of the Nur Otan party.

Residents of the country, dissatisfied with the created cult of personality of Nazarbayev, during the protests demanded his resignation and in a rage demolished the monument erected to him in Taldykorgan.

Listening to the demands of the protesters, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev removed Nazarbayev from the post of chairman of the Security Council and assumed this responsibility.
