The law on imprisonment for persistent violators of traffic rules came into force

According to the amendments made to Article 264.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for repeated driving into the oncoming lane or exceeding the speed of more than 60 kilometers per hour, a punishment of up to two years in prison is imposed. In the event that a person already convicted under this article again commits a similar violation, he can be sentenced to three years in prison.

Recall that the State Duma adopted the law at the end of last year. The authors of the bill believe that violators are not stopped by fines for violating traffic rules, they are ready to repeatedly violate them, therefore it is necessary to tighten the legislation.
