From Tuesday, January 11, everyone arriving in India will have to quarantine for a length of seven days, regardless of the test result for COVID-19. Previously, isolation was only required for travelers from countries with a poor epidemic situation.

In this case, tourists will have to take the PCR test three times. The first time - 72 hours before boarding the plane, the second - upon arrival in the country, and the third - on the eighth day of quarantine. In case of a positive result, the traveler will have to remain in quarantine or go to the hospital.

Earlier, during the New Year holidays in India , additional quarantine measures were introduced against the spread of covid. Thus, a curfew was declared in the country, restaurants were to limit the number of visitors. In Mumbai, for example, it was impossible to gather in companies of more than five people.

India has the sixth highest incidence of COVID-19 in the world. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 35.7 million cases of the virus have been reported in the country. More than 483 thousand people have died.
