Over 2.7 thousand people detained in Almaty since the beginning of the riots

During the anti-terrorist operation in Alma-Ata, 2,748 people were detained. They are suspected of participating in illegal actions, looting and other crimes. Also, 131 firearms and 4,179 ammunition were confiscated from the detainees.
This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the operational headquarters of the commandant's office in Alma-Ata.
Recall that on January 15 it was known about 2.4 thousand detainees in the city.
On January 2, protests began in Kazakhstan, which were attended by citizens dissatisfied with the sharp rise in fuel prices. In a few days, peaceful actions turned into mass riots with pogroms throughout the country. CSTO peacekeepers arrived in the republic to stabilize the situation.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared January 10 a day of national mourning for those who died as a result of mass riots.
