Yelena Bibikova, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, said that already in February, Russian pensioners will receive a pension indexed by 8.6% in one payment.

She noted that after the entry into force of the relevant law, Russian pensioners will also receive compensation in addition to the pension already received in January, which is indexed by 5.9%.

“I believe that this decision will be made by the end of January. Thus, from February 1, pensioners will already receive pensions indexed by 8.6%, but this increase will go in relation to the December amount of pensions, because in January the pension has already been increased by 5.9%”, - TASS quoted Bibikova as saying.

On January 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to index pensions above inflation by 8.6% in the near future. At the same time, pensions increased by 5.9% in January.

According to Novaya Gazeta, referring to the words of Bibikova, after indexation, the average pension will increase by 1,400 rubles.

“Pensions are likely to be retroactively indexed by 8.6% from January 1 this year”, - she said earlier.
