The human rights project Gulagu.net published a video on its YouTube channel, which shows the facts of abuse of prisoners. Human rights activists point out that this video was made in a colony in the Omsk region from November 1 to November 14, 2021.

From the video it follows that the prisoners are forced to sit on the bedside tables and read documents for several hours. They do not talk to each other, but rise from the bedside tables only to stand at attention, and then sit back down again. Human rights activists indicated that these footage was filmed in a quarantine detachment for new arrivals.

Vladimir Osechkin, founder of Gulagu.net , stated that the administration of the colony is "totally suppressing the will of the prisoners".

- Convicts from day to day - these are newly arrived convicts - are forced to sit on the bedside tables, learn the rules of the internal order. Under the threat of beating and rape, they are forbidden to talk to each other, to get up from this bedside table. In fact, in parallel in the colony, obviously, there is a suppression of will with the use of torture, since these adult men cannot even talk to each other,” Osechkin said.

At the end of December, we recall, human rights activists published new footage of torture of prisoners in Russian colonies. The description of the published footage says that this is only 1% of the archive that human rights activists have. Moreover, the footage was taken directly from the video surveillance system installed in the colonies. As Osechkin explained, after the publication of the first videos of torture, human rights activists were contacted by the Federal Penitentiary Service and gave them access to the service system and archive of the department. This allowed human rights activists to monitor more than 60 FSIN institutions online for several months, recording what was happening on the screen.

The project informants also shared a new archive of torture of prisoners in colonies in Krasnoyarsk, Transbaikalia and Primorsky Krai.

Recall that against the background of numerous facts of torture in the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the head of the service, Alexander Kalashnikov, was dismissed from his post at the end of November. He was replaced by Arkady Gostev, former Deputy Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
