Primorsky Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako signed a decree on the introduction of a high alert regime in the region in connection with the threat of stray dogs attacking people.

Before that, the head of the region made a proposal to introduce mandatory chipping of pets.

As stated in the governor's decree, a special regime is being introduced "in connection with the increase in the activity of animals without owners, cases of attacks by dogs without owners on people, in order to prevent the spread of contagious diseases common to humans and animals, given the current critically dangerous situation for the life and health of citizens".

Earlier, in another Far Eastern city, Magadan, a state of emergency was declared due to the increased activity of stray animals. A critically dangerous situation for the life and health of citizens has developed in the city.

Before that , an incident was reported in Transbaikalia, where stray dogs bit a seven-year-old girl. For the Far Eastern regions, the problem is widespread.
