US President Joe Biden announced his readiness to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but on the condition that Russia does not invade Ukraine. Earlier, the Elysee Palace announced the consent to participate in the summit from the President of the Russian Federation.

The Kremlin has not yet commented on this information.

“Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Lavrov are due to meet later this week in Europe, provided Russia does not start hostilities. President Biden has agreed in principle to meet with President Putin after that meeting, again, as long as there is no invasion”, - White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.

On February 19, the American leader said that Moscow had decided to “invade” Ukraine in the next few days, which explains the condition put forward.

“We are also ready for diplomacy. We are also prepared for quick and harsh consequences if Russia chooses war instead. And for the time being, Russia appears to be continuing preparations for a full-scale assault on Ukraine in the near future”, - the White House Gazette said.

Earlier today, the US embassy in Russia urged US citizens to leave the country and consider exit options. The reason for this is the high risk of terrorist attacks in public places.
