The Russian military has completely blocked access to the Sea of Azov for Ukrainian military units, said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov.

According to Konashenkov, the forward detachments of the People's Militia of the DPR advanced 19 km in a day and joined the military units of the Russian army on the border of the Donetsk region. They took control of areas of Ukraine along the coast of the Sea of Azov.

“From today, the exit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Sea of Azov is completely blocked”, - RIA Novosti quotes Konashenkov.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the LPR troops have advanced 61 kilometers since the beginning of the military operation.

The military special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine began after the heads of the republics of Donbass addressed the President of the Russian Federation. He was asked to recognize their independence and provide military assistance.

On February 21, Russia recognized the independence of the DPR and LPR, and on February 24, the Russian army entered the territory of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense stated that they do not strike civilian targets on the territory of Ukraine, destroying only military infrastructure.

The goal of the military special operation in the Kremlin was called the “denazification” and “liberation” of Ukraine, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky objected that Ukraine was “free”, and he called the appearance of Russian troops an act of aggression. The United States and the EU countries agreed with Zelensky, who demanded that Russia immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine and imposed large-scale economic sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The defense department calls on the Ukrainian military to lay down their arms, guaranteeing safety and returning home. Today, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced about the first losses among the Chechen military during a special operation in Ukraine. He spoke about two dead and six wounded soldiers.
