An aircraft designed to transport VIPs in the event of an emergency was lifted into the air after the Russian president announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine.

Websites that monitor air traffic have discovered that a so-called Doomsday plane was sent on a training flight to the United States a few hours after the announcement of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, inews reports.

The modified Boeing 747 took off from Lincoln Air Force Base, Nebraska, on Monday evening and completed a four-hour flight along with other specialized military aircraft. This ship is intended for the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense and other high-ranking government officials and can be sent flying in the event of a nuclear threat or other emergency.

The aircraft, officially designated E-4BS, are operated by the 1st Airborne Command and Control Squadron, 595th Command and Control Group, coordinated by United States Strategic Command and stationed near Omaha, Nebraska, at Offutt Air Force Base. It has been like this since the 1970s, since the times of the Cold War: one of the aircraft is always waiting at the base in combat readiness, ready to take off in 15 minutes.

If the president goes abroad, the E-4B follows him. There are four such boards in total. Each is equipped with special equipment, so that VIP passengers have the opportunity to communicate with anyone anywhere in the world. These are the most spacious of all US Air Force aircraft: three decks and 112 flight and command personnel.

The aircraft was designed in such a way that it can be refueled on the fly, remaining in the air for 35.4 hours. The design of the aircraft is designed to withstand a powerful electromagnetic pulse, keeping all the systems of the ship intact. There is information that the E-4B uses traditional analog flight instruments because they are less vulnerable.
