The World Bank announced the suspension of all its programs in Russia and Belarus due to "hostile actions against the Ukrainian people". The organization said in a statement that the World Bank has not approved any loans and investments for Russia since 2014, and for Belarus since 2020.

"With the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and hostile actions against the Ukrainian people, the World Bank Group immediately stopped all its programs in Russia and Belarus", - RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the WB.

Before that, the World Bank decided to provide Ukraine with financial assistance in the amount of $3 billion. The International Monetary Fund is studying Kyiv's request for emergency funding.

It's worth reminding: on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military special operation in Ukraine. This was followed by tough sanctions against Russia by Western countries, which require the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops.
