The Australian government has introduced another package of anti-Russian sanctions that will affect 33 individuals. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Maris Payne, we are talking about "prominent businessmen and their immediate family members".

So, restrictive measures will now apply against the owner of the Chelsea football club Roman Abramovich, head of the board of PJSC Gazprom Alexei Miller , chairman of the board of directors of Bank Rossiya Dmitry Lebedev, chairman of the board of Rostec Sergey Chemezov , head of PJSC Transneft Nikolai Tokarev , Chairman of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov, Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriyev, as well as a number of other persons.

Payne added that the Australian authorities will "coordinate closely" with their partners to "make Russia pay dearly for its actions".

Earlier, we note that the Australian authorities condemned China for not joining the condemnation of the military special operation carried out by Moscow in Ukraine.

It's worth reminding that on February 24, on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, military special operations began in Ukraine. The purpose of this operation, the Russian authorities call the demilitarization and denazification of the country. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation constantly indicates that strikes are not carried out on civilian infrastructure facilities and on the civilian population. In addition, the military department has repeatedly accused the Ukrainian side of obstructing the creation of humanitarian corridors for the withdrawal of civilians from the cities.
