Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is confident that Russia has changed the status quo by force. He noted that against this background, the defense of Japan will be strengthened.

The politician recalled that Moscow launched a military special operation in Ukraine, despite the fact that the Russian Federation has a permanent membership in the UN Security Council, designed to maintain peace and stability in the international community.

Tokyo has long advocated reforming the organization and changing veto powers, Kishida recalled.

“The reform of the Security Council, including the issue of the right of veto, remains a difficult task, but we would like to continue to continue the discussion on this issue, cooperating with other countries,” TASS quoted the head of the Japanese government as saying.

Now Japan is going to discuss this issue with the French government.

Earlier, Japan was included by the Russian authorities in the list of unfriendly countries. To this, Hirokazu Matsuno, Secretary General of the Government of the country, replied that Moscow's decision was "regrettable".

It's worth reminding that on March 9, Tokyo sent equipment, tents and warm clothes to Ukraine through Poland.
