As Golovchenko pointed out, countries have been discussing these measures for a long time. He pointed out that this is a "natural solution" because "under the circumstances, it makes no sense to be tied to some third currency".
The parties also talked about deriving a new formula, according to which Minsk will be able to pay for Russian crude oil. Golovchenko explained that, despite "quite comfortable prices," the formula still needs to be adjusted in order to "ensure the profitable operation of the Belarusian oil refining".
At the same time, Belarusian banks have limited the acceptance of Russian rubles. Some exchange offices have completely stopped buying Russian money. By introducing restrictions, Belarusian banks decided to protect themselves from the invasion of their Russian neighbors, who intend to save the depreciating rubles by buying foreign currency.
