Media: Bolsonaro asked Putin to help develop a nuclear submarine

17 марта 2022, 07:13
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, during his visit to Moscow in the middle of last month, asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin for help in a nuclear submarine project because of problems with the certification of the planned fuel.

The newspaper Folha de So Paulo writes about it.

The publication also indicates that the Brazilian Navy last year began testing a nuclear power plant, in which the experience of Russian experts could be useful.

It's worth reminding that Bolsonaro's visit to the capital of the Russian Federation lasted from 14 to 17 February. The heads of the two countries agreed to strengthen the dialogue "on such topics as the production of hydrocarbons in offshore fields, the development of hydrogen and nuclear energy and other industries".

Note that due to sanctions, Russia can no longer supply fertilizer to Brazil, which means that Brazilian coffee trees are under threat. Brazil imports about 85% of chemicals, and about a fifth of these imports came from Russia.
