The United States is concerned about the possibility that China will begin to provide direct assistance to Russia in a special operation in Ukraine, said SA Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

According to White House spokesman Jen Psaki, any help from the Chinese government in the current situation will have consequences.

At the same time, she did not name specific measures of Washington's response to Beijing's possible actions.

“I will not describe what these consequences will look like”, - Psaki said.

Blinken added that the PRC has a responsibility to "use its influence" with Russian President Vladimir Putin and to "protect international rules and principles".

Blinken said that on March 18, the President of the United States Jah Biden will speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and "make it clear that China will be held accountable for any action it takes to support Russian aggression".

It's worth reminding that China did not openly support the special operation conducted by Moscow in Ukraine. However, Beijing opposed the anti-Russian sanctions announced by the West, Japan and Australia.

Meanwhile, Chinese stocks are falling amid possible sanctions if the country helps Russia. There is a record 12% drop. Thus, Alibaba securities fell by 6.5%, Pinduoduo - by 6%, Baidu - by 5.9%.
