The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, said that more than ten criminal cases were initiated to discredit the activities of the Russian Armed Forces. He believes that the law on fakes about the Russian army was introduced very timely.

In an interview with TASS, Bastrykin stressed that the sanctions of the new articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation are "very severe".

"I believe (sanctions - editor's note) will help minimize false information and its negative impact on a wide audience", - said the head of the RF IC.

It's worth reminding that on March 4, a law was adopted that introduces criminal penalties and large fines for false information that discredits the Russian army, as well as for calls for sanctions against the Russian Federation. The document says that the term of imprisonment for these crimes can be up to 15 years if such reports entail serious consequences.
