Borrell says ruble copes well with Western sanctions

"The ruble has shown strong resilience", - he said.

According to him, the rate of the Russian currency was significantly supported by the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that in the future the country will sell its resources for rubles. "Let's see what happens next", - added Josep Borrell.

It's worth reminding that earlier Vladimir Putin said that from April 1, payments for Russian gas will be made in rubles. For foreign counterparties, two accounts will be opened in Gazprombank: one in foreign currency, the second in ruble. Foreign counterparties will transfer funds in their own currency to a foreign currency account, the bank will sell these funds on the Moscow Exchange and credit the proceeds in rubles to a ruble account. After that, the payment will be considered made.
