Specialists of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, near Moscow, discovered petrified bacteria in a meteorite, writes 360tv.ru. For several years, scientists have been working together with European and American laboratories to study the remains of microorganisms in celestial bodies.

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Sector of Astrobiology of the LRB JINR and paleontologist Alexei Rozanov emphasized that traces of life were found in meteorites as early as the middle of the last century. However, then, according to the scientist, astronomers "spit" on them, and any research on organic matter began to be considered "indecent".

Only in the 90s, research in this direction received a new impetus, and the first serious discoveries were made several years ago, in the process of studying fossils that arrived from space, including the Orgei meteorite, under electron microscopes. Remains were found in it, after studying which it can be argued that life came to Earth from space, but not in a meteorite. In the celestial body there are fossilized microorganisms that lived somewhere.
