Ivan Abramov, deputy head of the economic committee of the Federation Council, supported the idea of introducing additional vacations for citizens of the Russian Federation this year from May 1 to May 10.

According to Abramov, the increase in the number of non-working days in May from seven to ten will allow people to fully relax. The senator is convinced that "in such difficult times, citizens need to be given a break."

According to RIA Novosti , earlier the idea to increase the duration of the May weekend this year to 10 days (from May 1 to May 10) was voiced by the Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the New People faction Vladislav Davankov.

The Federation Council explained that citizens need additional rest to prevent emotional burnout against the backdrop of covid and Western sanctions imposed after the start of the Russian military special operation on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the senator, citizens will be able to use the additional days off during the May holidays for the sowing campaign in summer cottages, as well as for communicating with relatives and friends.

Abramov added that commercial organizations will retain the right to independently form a work schedule during the May holidays.

The current production calendar assumed rest from May 1 to 3 and from May 7 to 10 inclusive, the days from May 4 to 6 were declared working.
