By April 1, 2022, the number of bankrupt Russians amounted to more than 537 thousand people - 529,303 citizens were declared insolvent by court, 7,757 people received such status out of court, through the MFC.

As noted in Fedresurs, the number of citizens who decide to use one of the bankruptcy procedures continues to increase. In the first quarter of this year, the courts declared bankrupt 54,190 citizens, which is 33.6% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, the growth rate in the number of bankruptcies decreased sharply: in the first quarter of 2021, the increase in the number of bankruptcies compared to the same quarter in 2020 amounted to 81.4%. This trend is associated with a small number of procedures at the start - since October 2015. In absolute terms, the annual increase in the number of new bankrupts is quite high, according to Fedresurs.

It is noted that in the overwhelming majority of cases, citizens initiate judicial bankruptcy proceedings on their own initiative (94.9% of cases initiated in the first quarter of 2022, 95.3% in the first quarter of 2021).

In the period from January to March of this year, the MFC published 1285 messages on the initiation of out-of-court bankruptcy procedures for citizens - this is more than the same period last year Ana 10.3%. The share of rejected applications decreased from 54% to 45%.
