Le Pen, who entered the second round of the presidential elections in France along with the current head of state Emmanuel Macron, said that she is not a supporter of Russia, but considers it irrational to impose energy sanctions against the Russian Federation. Le Pen is convinced that anti-Russian sanctions can harm the people of France.
“I am not a Trojan horse for anyone. I am not in favor of lifting the sanctions. But I am against sanctions related to energy, because I do not want the French to face negative consequences, ” Interfax quotes Le Pen as saying.
Earlier it was reported that during the first round of the presidential elections, which took place on April 10, Le Pen won 23.3%, Macron - 28.1%. The leftist anti-globalist Mélenchon, unexpectedly for many, received 21.57%, but did not make it to the second round.
According to sociologists, during the first round, the votes of French voters were distributed as follows: young people voted for Mélenchon, pensioners for Macron, and French people aged 25-49 for Le Pen.
Marine Le Pen believes that, despite the events in Ukraine, Russia "will not disappear anywhere" in the near future.
“But if Russia and China get closer, it will be extremely negative for Europe,” she explained.
Le Pen added that during his first term, the current president of the country and her electoral rival Emmanuel Macron tried to avoid this.
“As you know, I disagree with him in many ways, but on this issue I share his opinion,” Le Pen said.
The second round of presidential elections in the country is scheduled for April 24.
