Another shortage threatens Russia - this time plumbing and imported equipment for repairs. Moreover, this is due not only to sanctions, but also to the outbreak of covid in China. It turned out to be impossible to replace Western plumbing with Chinese, due to another lockdown. The deficit will affect not only plumbing equipment, but also construction chemicals, tools and engineering equipment, Kommersant reports .
But that's not all. Russians run the risk of being left without toilet bowls for a while, since 90% of white kaolin, which is used for the production of toilet bowls, sinks and bidets, was imported by Russian manufacturers from Lugansk, where the special operation takes place. In addition, kaolin is also used to make ceramic tiles. Of course, it is possible to replace Luhansk supplies, but this will take both time and money. Today, Ukraine ranks first in the world in terms of the number of explored and probable reserves of kaolin - 4.5 billion tons and 40 billion tons. Whereas in all of Western Europe they are much smaller - only 3.5 billion tons, of which 2 billion tons are in England. In Russia, there is also a kaolin deposit, but a small one - in the Orenburg region.
So everyone who decides to start a renovation will have a hard time.
A similar situation is developing in the furniture market, since both fittings and furniture fabric, not to mention paints and varnishes, were also mainly purchased abroad.
