Russian goalkeepers Georgiyev and Shestyorkin set a record in the NHL

Russian New York Rangers goaltender Alexander Georgiyev managed to hit all 28 shots in the NHL regular season game with Philadelphia, as a result of the club won the sixth victory in a row.

Earlier, another Russian Rangers goalkeeper, Igor Shestyorkin, won seven matches in December-January.

The Rangers match with Philadelphia ended 4-0. Two goals were scored by Kaapo Kakko (on the 11th and 29th minutes), then on the 32nd and 59th minutes Artemy Panarin and Andrew Koppa scored.

At the same time, the 26-year-old goalkeeper Georgiyev, who has been playing for the Rangers for the fifth season, was recognized as the main star of the meeting.

According to the results of the match, for the first time in the history of the New York club, two different goalkeepers, Georgiev and Shestyorkin, managed to become participants in a winning streak of six or more matches in one season, RBC notes.

In 30 games played for the Rangers, Georgiyev managed to save 89.8% of shots. Prior to that, in 31 American Hockey League games for Hartford, Georgiyev scored 12 wins, averaging 2.97 goals per game and reflecting 90.8 percent of shots.

Georgiyev was born in Bulgaria. He played in the Youth Hockey League for Khimik (Voskresensk), and from the 2014-15 season he played in Finland for TPS. As part of the Russian youth team, he became the silver medalist of the 2016 World Cup.
