“Gas deliveries to Bulgargaz and PGNIG have been suspended until they are paid in accordance with the new procedure, in rubles,” RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the company.
Earlier it was reported that Russia made the decision to transfer the payment of bills for natural gas supplies from Russia to the EU in response to the "unfriendly actions" of Western countries that imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation after the start of the Russian military special operation on the territory of Ukraine.
The Russian authorities said that payment in rubles should begin in April this year, and warned that in case of violation of the new contract terms, the supply of the resource could be stopped.
A number of countries agreed to change the currency of payment, however, the governments of some European states refused to switch to rubles, considering the new requirements of the supplier to be a significant violation of the terms of previously signed contracts, which did not provide for a change in the currency of payment during the period of the contracts.
On the eve of "Gazprom" warned that due to non-payment, the company will stop gas supplies to Poland.
