“We have made it clear that we will never support the extension of European Union sanctions against Russia to the energy sector”, - the politician said on HirTV.

The introduction of anti-Russian sanctions against Moscow requires the unanimity of the EU countries. If Hungary does not join the sanctions, it makes no sense for the European Commission to impose an embargo on Russian energy resources, Gulis recalled. He pointed out that the EU has not adopted sanctions that make it impossible to pay for gas in rubles, and this is regulated by a civil law agreement between states and companies.

“In addition to Hungary, nine other European countries buy Russian gas and oil, while their leaders want to look good and do not speak honestly about this with their own people”, - the politician noted.

Recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the republic is ready to pay for Russian gas in rubles. On April 27, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced the transition to a new payment scheme for Russian gas. Budapest will pay for the supply of blue fuel through an account with Gazprombank, where euros will be converted into rubles. On the same day, we note that Gazprom suspended gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria due to the refusal to switch to a new payment scheme, which implies payment for Russian gas in rubles.
