Rain extinguished natural fires in Primorsky Krai

- The rains that took place on the territory of Primorye in early May improved the fire hazard situation in the region. Over the past day, only two fires with a total area of 65 hectares were registered, in the Khanka district and the Khasan district. They have been eliminated, the department said.

The regional government noted that last holiday weekend - from April 30 to May 3 - 18 forest plots burned in Primorye, and seven natural fires with a total area of over 690 hectares were registered.

A high fire hazard class was established due to dry, warm weather. At the end of last month, a special fire regime was introduced in the region.

In total, 697 forest and natural fires on an area of about 72,000 hectares were extinguished in the region this year.
