Russia will ban the import of high-speed electric scooters and unicycles

According to Kommersant, referring to the Ministry of Transport, the Moscow City Hall and FSUE NAMI, the rules for certification of "electric means of individual mobility" will be established in the new GOST (Russian National Standard). So, the delivered goods will now have a built-in speed limiter, an automatic deceleration function in parks, as well as a satellite tracking system. Now the speed is already limited in kicksharing electric scooters, but now this feature will be in all SIMs from stores.

Earlier, we recall, the Federation Council proposed to introduce OSAGO (Compulsory civil liability insurance for vehicle owners) for electric scooters and other means of individual mobility, since they are unsafe for drivers and pedestrians, and besides, they are capable of developing significant speed. Last year alone, 672 accidents involving means of individual mobility were registered, 20 victims died (this figure increased by 185% year-on-year).
