On April 28, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova , ordered the regions to assess their readiness to prevent the importation and spread of cholera, including the adoption of additional measures to accelerate the diagnosis of the disease.
"On the territory of our country, you have to be careful - in the Astrakhan region, for example, in Elista, Kalmykia, surrounded by the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov, the northern Black Sea region, because migration is going on from there, cholera has been repeatedly isolated there in the last 10 years. It is there in the warm season and, in fact, in winter it is there and from there it can spread. Crimea also applies to this", - said the doctor.
In countries where there are problems with water and sanitation, outbreaks of cholera are possible. For example, such a threat exists in Yemen. El Tor cholera is common in Egypt. Since it flows easily, people may not notice it at all and “bring” it into the country. Therefore, tourists need to be especially careful, wash their hands, and do not even touch unwashed fruits.
It's worth reminding that on May 5, after messages appeared in messengers and social networks that cholera pathogens were allegedly detected in drinking water, Rospotrebnadzor made a statement refuting this information.
