In the city of Chongqing in southwest China, forty people were injured in a fire on a Tibet Airlines plane at Jiangbei Airport. The plane skidded off the runway and caught fire.

The incident happened at 8 am local time (3 am Moscow time). At the time of the fire, 113 passengers and nine crew members were on board. The injured were taken to the hospital.

"The aircraft, operating flight TV9833 Chongqing - Nyingchi, went off the runway at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and its forward fuselage on the left side caught fire", - the airport representative said.

There is no information about the dead. The cause of the fire is now being established.

The fire has been extinguished for now. The runway where the plane caught fire is closed. Flights with a stopover in Chongqing were moved to the Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu.

Its' worth reminding that in Mar this year in southern China, in the mountains of Teng County, Wuzhou, a China Eastern Airlines plane crashed with 133 people on board.
