Photo of the day: Curiosity rover discovers mysterious hole in Martian rock

The NASA website published another image taken by the Curiosity rover on May 7, 2022, one of which attracted the attention of a huge number of social media users. Indeed, a certain rectangular hole with smooth edges is clearly visible on it, as if made by intelligent beings. In any case, the vast majority of commentators believe that this is a sensation. However, there were also skeptics:

- The picture clearly shows that there is no further progress and deepening there. Right angles in nature, of course, do exist and this is not uncommon. But, if this is done mechanically, then you yourself understand that this is a mega sensation...

- Jokes aside. A piece of rock broke off at the intersection of two cracks. The orientation of the cracks can be traced higher on the rock surface. Another crack is visible on the left, and it is parallel to one of the intersecting ones, i.e. belongs to the same fracture system. Purely natural formation.
