According to a letter from the deputy head of the sanctions department of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economics, the country's authorities lifted sanctions from EuroChem after Andrey Melnichenko, who was on the black list, left the board of directors and legally ceased to be the owner of the company.

Information about this is reported by the Swiss edition Tages-Anzeiger. The publication says that the sanctions have been lifted due to the departure of Melnichenko, so there is no reason to continue the restrictions imposed on the company by the Swiss authorities.

According to the source, Melnichenko's wife Alexandra became the new beneficiary. According to TASS, local authorities have no evidence that the company "is owned or controlled by a person who is under sanctions".

Russian businessman Andrey Melnichenko was included in the sanctions list of the country and the EU on March 9, which resulted in the freezing of his assets, including the Eurochem group. The company specializes in the production of nitrogen, phosphate and potash fertilizers. Prior to the imposition of sanctions, EuroChem's products were supplied to more than 100 countries.
